These pictures are from my 2017 contest season.
When I’d finished the 2016 season I made a very quick decision to compete in May/June of 2017. Only about 7months after the last contest season.
I rebounded by slowly adding more food and maintained a reasonable off season condition. I didn’t allow my 9 Skinfolds to go above 40mm.
I ate as much as I could while still maintaining a lean condition which meant that I didn’t need to start leaning until February. Because I maintained a lean condition the diet wasn’t as harsh for the first 2 months.
In the last month I tightened my diet as tight as I had ever done and made an effort to come in as lean as I could.
I was at my best for the 3 contests that I competed in and ended up with 4 wins from 5 divisions entered.
The biggest factor that you need to be concerned about after being on a diet for so long is your metabolism becoming sluggish and in natural bodybuilders your natural testosterone levels dropping.
For anyone competitor or not it’s not good to be on a restrictive diet. You need diet breaks on a regular basis. Never diet for long periods as this will lead to diminishing returns and eventually a rebound or weight gain.
