Me at 47

Bodybuilding later in life

I am 47 years of Age. I have been lifting weights since I was 15 years old.

I first competed when I was 20 years old and had competed sporadically over the next 12 years. Winning some shows and placing in most but not having any sort of plan of ascending the ranks of bodybuilding.

It was a hobby.

I have always loved training and it has always been quite focused. Many of my best lifts were in my early 30s when I weighed my heaviest.

Once I became a PT, I started competing yearly and worked on improving my training and my contest preparation process.

Up until this point it was haphazard.

I started to diet for longer preparation periods and improved my training and diet techniques to achieve much better condition and size.

I will admit that my methods become more structured as I got older because unlike when I was younger, nothing was fast so I had to improve my methods.

Every year that I had competed I had improved on how lean I had became. I also made more effort on my presentation and posing which helped me win more shows.

My best 4 years were 2015 to 2018 where I had a very defined process of contest preparation and put regular practice into my presentation.

My last competition was in 2018 at a natural Australian and Natural Universe championships where I was a runner up in both shows.

Since that time my focus has been family, business and my son with his tennis career. There was also the distraction of Covid 19 and some huge changes to the world and especially the fitness industry.

During the Covid-19 period of 2020 to 2021 I was training as best as I could but because of so many other challenges it was sporadic.

Now in 2022, now that we have relocated to Spain I have my old focus on food and training.

My son is training at a high level tennis academy and he has his own fitness trainers, high level tennis coaches and most things are being taken care of for him.

That has given me more time to focus on business and training. Being online has meant that for the first time since 2007, I can focus on my own training when I’m in the gym. Something that has been missing for many years.

Unlike in my 20s and 30s, adding muscle in my 40s has been more difficult and slower and I feel like I am still trying to add back muscle that I was carrying in 2018.

My plan was to compete in 2022 but I really don’t want to compete for competitions sake.

I want to my best ever.

I am adding muscle back week to week and I am enjoying training again for the first time since I can remember.

I will keep giving regular updates and be adding my routines and nutrition plans.

Leave me a message to find out what My training and nutrition plans are and how they can help you.
