We would all love to be in shape. But there is a big difference between liking the idea and actually wanting it enough to do something about it.
As a trainer and now an online coach I can give someone all the tools to be successful but people are still only as good as their actions and not their excuses.
The truth of the matter is that many people don’t see health or fitness or being happy with themselves and how they look as a priority.
They may say to themselves that I don’t want to be too self absorbed or selfish. Well selfishness and self care are not the same things.
When people come to a trainer or find an online trainer it’s because they have the motivation to start something.
When they have the motivation they will respond to every message and listen to everything you say.
When they lose the motivation but the habits are not engrained they will stop answering. When finally they do answer, they are ready with all the excuses of why they didn’t take action.
It’s unfortunately human nature and a learned behaviour.
We want our kids to be responsable but we are not responsable. Certainly not to ourselves.
Remember the saying actions speak louder than words.
Right now you may be reading this and getting angry because you think your excuses are more important than anyone else’s.
When you are on the same place months later who will you be angry with? Your trainer or you?
Responsable means being able to respond to situations in a manner that allows us to continue meeting our goals.
I haven’t had time is an excuse.
I have been stressed is an excuse.
Making sound food choices is a habit. Finding a way to exercise is a habit.
Letting things get in the way of our goals is a habit.
Habits are just learned behaviours.
How hard would we be on our children if they were irresponsable? But our children are following our actions.
They learn how to make excuses just like we do.
Obesity is the result of poor habits and that is a fact. No one wants to be obese but not many want to be responsable for the habits or actions that got them to that point.
As human beings we have something that other animals apparently don’t have and that is self awareness.
We are aware that our actions are leading to our outcomes and we know we need to change our actions to change our outcomes.
But the child side of us takes over and we hide away from the responsable behaviours that lead to successful outcomes.
We are not taking the right actions.
As a trainer I am very good at helping people get into shape but I am not a great business person.
I know this and I have been TRYING to change it for many years.
I need to be more responsable for the things that lead to that outcome. Which is why I need a trainer for my business.
But it’s pointless having that trainer until I am ready to listen.
TRUTH bomb.
How about taking that first step of responsibility and talking to your trainer when they ask what’s happening and then find a way to be successful when life gives us many things that we can use as excuses.
Let’s be responsable and take action.
